Retail Rock Climbing Associate
About The Position
The Climbing Associate drives engagement, training, and educational programs for teammates and customers in all aspects of climbing. The role monitors climbing activities, assists climbers, and directs workflow and daily climb department operations under the direction of the department Lead and Assistant Store Manager. The associate also drives results, upholds Company standards, and assists with other store operations as needed. The associate provides high-quality customer service and consultative product advice, teaches climbing techniques and lessons, maintains merchandise presentation standards, and assists with team-building events at the rock wall. The role also supports safety, loss prevention, and physical security practices for the building, service areas, climbing wall, and field, while helping create an inclusive and respectful environment.
Requirements
- Climbing certification required.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old to comply with applicable labor laws and job-specific requirements.

- Prior retail experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Drive engagement, training, and educational programs for teammates and customers in all aspects of climbing.
- Monitor climbing activities and provide assistance to climbers.
- Direct workflow and oversee daily climb department operations under the direction of the department Lead and Assistant Store Manager.
- Drive the highest level of customer service in the department and follow Company service and selling standards.
- Provide consultative advice and excellent product knowledge.
- Instruct climbing techniques for explorers of all ages and experience levels, and teach lessons as needed or requested.
- Maintain merchandise presentation according to established floor sets, signing requirements, price changes, replenishment, recovery, and in-stock processes.
- Assist the Climbing Lead with team-building events at the rock wall with guides.
- Identify and correct safety concerns involving the rock wall and climbing equipment while maintaining Company loss prevention standards and controls.
- Follow safety, loss prevention, and standard operating procedures, and maintain confidentiality of Company information.
- Help create an inclusive store environment where teammates and customers feel welcome, safe, and respected.
- Support the team across the store and perform other tasks assigned by management.
- Assist in creating, maintaining, and ensuring compliance with safety-related standard operating procedures for the building, service areas, climbing wall, and field.
- Help ensure the safety and security of teammates, athletes, and property in accordance with local regulations.
- Ensure all certifications are completed and up to date.
