About The Position

Dandelion Chocolate is seeking a Retail Manager to create world-class, high-touch chocolate experiences at their Fillmore Street and Powell Street locations. This role involves managing daily operations, leading a team, ensuring exceptional guest service, and contributing to the company's mission of being a sustainable and ethical business. The manager will be responsible for creating an inviting atmosphere, overseeing merchandising, managing inventory, and developing strategic plans for growth and profitability. This position requires a strong leader with operational expertise and a passion for creating memorable guest experiences in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Requirements

3+ years of previous experience in a food establishment such as a restaurant, high-volume café, or intimate retail shop.
Systems and process know-how to prioritize elevated guest service.
Proficiency with spreadsheets and profitability reports.
Ability to read and modify financial models to inform day-to-day decision making.
Ability to adjust schedule to fit the needs of the team, including working evenings and weekends.
Ability to turn around sensitive or disagreeable guests, even during busy periods.
Ability to respond to customers with a friendly, approachable demeanor on social media accounts like Yelp and Google Reviews.

Responsibilities

Create world-class, high-touch chocolate experiences at the Fillmore Street and Powell Street locations.
Uphold the company's mission of being a sustainable and ethical business.
Manage daily retail operations, including covering team breaks and placing supply orders.
Collaborate with the Creative team on merchandising, signage, and chalkboard art for seasonal events.
Work with the Facilities Manager to schedule maintenance and repairs, such as fixing under-shelf lighting.
Conduct 1:1 meetings with team members.
Respond to Yelp and Google reviews.
Develop staffing plans for peak seasons like the holidays.
Develop and implement quarterly milestones for shop improvement, such as extending hours, introducing team greeters, and enhancing inventory tracking systems.
Prioritize team and guest service, engaging with regular customers and ensuring their needs are met.
Develop a vision for an exquisite chocolate shop experience in collaboration with the COO, focusing on profitability and team cohesion.
Maintain open and clear communication to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Act as the single point-person responsible for the day-to-day success and long-term growth of the operation.
Build and maintain systems with Fulfillment, Product, Creative, and other Cafe and Retail teams for stocking and displaying products.
Outline actionable goals for company profitability with the Finance team, including tracking costs for goods and labor.
Ensure shops are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and organization, reflecting the Dandelion Chocolate brand.
Partner with Facilities and Creative to ensure stores are well-maintained and merchandised.
Reinforce and improve hospitality and retail service standards.
Ensure guests feel welcome and part of the Dandelion Chocolate story.
Train team members to deliver high-touch guest care and answer guest questions accurately.
Oversee retail teams to ensure smooth guest interactions, a safe work environment, and task completion.
Actively recruit, train, and develop team members for long-term success.
Develop systems to ensure stores always look their best, addressing details like displays and chalkboard art.
Perform other tasks as necessary.
