Retail Loss Prevention Detective
About The Position
The Retail Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks supporting store loss prevention and safety programs while maintaining positive relationships with Store Management. The role identifies and resolves internal and external theft, conducts apprehensions under established policies and guidelines, and communicates with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives. It also supports shrink-reduction goals and programs and helps promote a safe store environment. The position requires providing courteous, knowledgeable customer service; maintaining honesty, integrity, and confidentiality; and responding appropriately to changing directions or unexpected situations. The Detective participates in investigations and surveillance as assigned, completes related paperwork accurately and on time, maintains appropriate evidence, and may participate professionally in legal activities such as police calls. The role coordinates shrink-related activities with Store Management, encourages Associates to use shrink-reduction resources, and follows labor laws, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities
- Complete daily tasks for Store Loss Prevention and safety programs.
- Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
- Conduct apprehensions in accordance with established policies, guidelines, and shoplifter procedures.
- Communicate with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
- Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
- Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable customer service.
- Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
- Observe, apprehend, and/or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
- Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
- Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
- Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and promptly.
- Maintain appropriate evidence and understand law enforcement procedures; participate professionally in legal activities as needed, such as police calls.
- Coordinate shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
- Follow all labor laws, policies, and procedures.
- Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
- Encourage Associates to use shrink-reduction resources.
- Promote safety awareness and support a safe environment.
