About The Position

The Retail Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks for store loss prevention and safety programs while maintaining positive relationships with Store Management. The role identifies and resolves internal and external theft, conducts apprehensions in accordance with established policies and guidelines, and communicates with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives. The Detective also supports investigations and surveillance, maintains evidence and accurate paperwork, and participates professionally in legal activities as needed. The position promotes honesty, integrity, confidentiality, customer service, and a safe store environment while supporting shrink-reduction goals.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily tasks required for Store Loss Prevention and safety programs.
• Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
• Conduct apprehensions within established policies and guidelines and ensure they are consistent with store theft activity.
• Communicate with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
• Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
• Adhere to established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
• Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to customers.
• Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
• Observe, apprehend, and/or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
• Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
• Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and on time.
• Maintain appropriate evidence, demonstrate understanding of law enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed, including police calls.
• Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
• Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
• Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
• Encourage Associate use of shrink-reduction resources.
• Promote safety awareness and support maintenance of a safe environment.
