Retail Loss Prevention Detective
About The Position
The Retail Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks for store loss prevention and safety programs while maintaining positive relationships with Store Management. The role identifies and resolves internal and external theft, conducts apprehensions within established policies and guidelines, and communicates with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives. It also supports shrink reduction goals, promotes safety awareness, and helps maintain a safe store environment. The position involves observing, apprehending, or deterring dishonest acts; participating in investigations and surveillance as assigned; coordinating shrink-related activities with Store Management; and completing accurate, timely paperwork. The Detective maintains appropriate evidence, follows law enforcement procedures, and participates professionally in legal activities as needed. The role provides timely, courteous, and knowledgeable customer service, maintains confidentiality, and adheres to labor laws, policies, and procedures. The position is located at TJ Maxx Store 0758 in Commack, New York. The starting pay range is USD $17.00 to $20.40 per hour; actual starting pay depends on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.

Responsibilities
- Complete daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs.
- Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
- Conduct apprehensions in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
- Communicate with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
- Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
- Adhere to established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
- Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to customers.
- Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
- Observe, apprehend, and/or deter dishonest acts from outside sources.
- Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
- Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
- Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and on time.
- Maintain appropriate evidence, demonstrate understanding of law enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed.
- Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
- Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
- Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
- Encourage Associate use of shrink-reduction resources.
- Promote safety awareness and support maintenance of a safe environment.
