Retail Field, POS & Network Technicians
About The Position
MTI is seeking flexible field, POS, and network technicians to implement, maintain, upgrade, and repair networks and networked devices, including access points, routers, switches, POS systems, printers, and modems. The work includes setting up and troubleshooting wired and wireless connections in varied environments and establishing adequate signal strength for client locations. Consistent POS work is expected to begin in April 2026. All training is provided. The position involves travel across various markets and work in a range of locations, including facility ceiling and crawl spaces. Flexible freelancers and small business owners with weekday availability are encouraged to apply; the company may be able to accommodate other work schedules.
Requirements
- Previous IT, POS, field, or related technical technician experience.
- Current driver's license, vehicle, and insurance.
- Smartphone mobile device.
- Flexible availability.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of various networking technologies.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, and aptitude for customer support.
- Must be over 18.
- Ability to use hand tools frequently.
- Ability to lift 60 pounds on occasion and climb ladders.
- Ability to use a computer and telephone system.
- Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, and reach overhead.
Nice To Haves
- Certifications; they are a plus but not required.
- POS experience.
Responsibilities
- Implement, maintain, upgrade, and repair networks and networked devices.
- Set up and troubleshoot wired and wireless connections in varied environments.
- Run, manage, test, and terminate cabling, and provision networks.
- Test networks and Wi-Fi signals, including heat mapping.
- Install and troubleshoot access points, routers, and switches.
- Communicate with customers and colleagues by phone, text, and email.
- Travel to work locations in various markets.
