Retail Field & Network Technicians
About The Position
MTI is hiring flexible field, POS, and network technicians in the Service Tech US department. The role involves implementing, maintaining, upgrading, and repairing networks and networked devices, including access points, routers, switches, POS systems, printers, and modems. Technicians set up and troubleshoot wired and wireless connections in varied environments and establish adequate signal strength for client use. Consistent POS work is expected to begin in April 2026. All training is provided. The role requires travel to various markets and offers the possibility of working around other work for freelancers and small business owners with weekday availability.
Requirements
- Be over the age of 18.
- Have a current driver's license, insurance, and a vehicle.
- Have previous IT, POS, field, or related technical technician experience.
- Have a smartphone or mobile device.
- Be available flexibly.
- Have strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Have knowledge of various networking technologies.
- Have effective communication and teamwork skills and aptitude for customer support.
- Be able to communicate by phone, text, and email.
- Be able to lift 60 pounds on occasion and climb up and down ladders.
- Be able to use a computer and telephone system.
Nice To Haves
- Certifications; they are a plus but not required.
- POS experience.
- Flexible freelancer or small business owner with weekday availability.
Responsibilities
- Implement, maintain, upgrade, and repair networks and networked devices.
- Set up and troubleshoot wired and wireless connections in different environments.
- Create adequate wireless signal strength throughout client locations.
- Perform cabling runs, management, testing, and termination, as well as network provisioning.
- Test networks and Wi-Fi signals, including heat mapping.
- Install and troubleshoot access points, routers, and switches.
- Use hand tools and travel to various markets.
