Retail Field & or Network Technicians
About The Position
MTI is seeking flexible Retail Field or Network Technicians for several upcoming projects in 2026. Technicians implement, maintain, upgrade, and repair networks and networked devices, including access points, smart-lock access systems, routers, switches, POS systems, printers, and modems. They set up and troubleshoot connections across different environments, using physical cables or wireless frequencies to provide adequate signal strength for clients. The role requires travel across various markets, flexible availability, use of hand tools, and the ability to lift 60 pounds or more and climb ladders. Projects may involve different work environments, including facility ceiling spaces and crawl spaces. Training is provided. The company welcomes applicants with relevant technical backgrounds, including freelancers, small business owners, college graduates, and students with weekday availability.
Requirements
- Must be over the age of 18.
- Current driver's license, vehicle, and insurance.
- Previous IT, POS, field, or related technical technician experience.
- Technical aptitude and experience with cabling runs, management, testing, termination, and network provisioning.
- Excellent communication skills by phone, text, and email.
- Smartphone mobile device.
- Flexible availability.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of networking technologies.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with aptitude for customer support.
- Ability to travel in various markets.
- Ability to use hand tools and climb ladders.
- Ability to lift 60 pounds or more on occasion.

- Certifications; they are a plus but not required.
- POS experience.

Responsibilities
- Implement, maintain, upgrade, and repair networks and networked devices.
- Set up and troubleshoot wired and wireless connections in varied environments.
- Create adequate network signal strength throughout client locations.
- Run, manage, test, and terminate cabling and provision networks.
- Test Wi-Fi networks and signals, including heat mapping.
- Install and troubleshoot access points, routers, and switches.
- Travel to project locations in various markets.
- Communicate effectively with customers and team members by phone, text, and email.
