Retail Field & or Network Technicians
About The Position
MTI is seeking flexible Retail Field or Network Technicians for several upcoming projects in 2026. Technicians implement, maintain, upgrade, and repair networks and networked devices, including access points, smart-lock access systems, routers, switches, POS systems, printers, and modems. The role involves setting up and troubleshooting connections in varied environments, using physical cabling or wireless frequencies, and providing adequate signal strength for client use. Training is provided. The position requires travel across various markets and flexible availability. The posting notes that MTI may work around other employment or study schedules for freelancers, small-business owners, college graduates, and students with weekday availability.
Requirements
- Be over the age of 18.
- Have a current driver's license, insurance, and a vehicle.
- Have previous IT, POS, field, or related technical technician experience.
- Have technical aptitude and experience with cabling runs, management, testing, termination, or network provisioning.
- Have excellent communication skills by phone, text, and email.
- Have a smartphone mobile device.
- Have flexible availability.
- Be able to use hand tools frequently.
- Be able to lift 60 pounds or more on occasion.
- Be able to climb up and down ladders.
- Demonstrate strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, knowledge of networking technologies, communication and teamwork skills, and customer-support aptitude.
Nice To Haves
- Certifications; they are a plus but not required.
- POS experience.
Responsibilities
- Implement, maintain, upgrade, and repair networks and networked devices.
- Set up and troubleshoot wired and wireless connections in varied environments.
- Run, manage, test, and terminate cables and provision networks.
- Test Wi-Fi networks and signals, including heat mapping.
- Install and troubleshoot access points, routers, and switches.
- Communicate with clients and team members by phone, text, and email.
- Travel to project sites in various markets.
