Retail Field, Low Voltage &/or Network Technicians
About The Position
MTI is seeking field, POS, and network technicians for flexible projects across various markets. Technicians implement, maintain, upgrade, and repair networks and networked devices, including access points, routers, switches, POS systems, printers, and modems. Work may also involve smart-lock access, setting up and troubleshooting wired or wireless connections in varied environments, and establishing adequate signal strength for client locations. Training is provided. Flexible freelancers and small-business owners with weekday availability are encouraged to apply; the company may be able to work around other work.
Requirements
- Previous IT or related technical technician experience.
- Current driver's license, vehicle, and insurance.
- Technically inclined, with experience in cabling runs, management, testing, termination, and network provisioning.
- Excellent communication skills by phone, text, and email.
- Smartphone mobile device.
- Flexible availability.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of various networking technologies.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with an aptitude for customer support.
- Must be over 18.
- Able to lift 60 pounds or more on occasion and climb up and down ladders.
Nice To Haves
- Certifications are a plus but not required.
- POS experience is a plus.
- Flexible freelancer or small-business owner with weekday availability.
Responsibilities
- Implement, maintain, upgrade, and repair networks and networked devices.
- Set up and troubleshoot wired and wireless connections, including smart-lock access.
- Run, manage, test, and terminate cabling and provision networks.
- Test networks and Wi-Fi signals, including heat mapping.
- Install and troubleshoot access points, routers, and switches.
- Communicate effectively by phone, text, and email and provide customer support.
- Travel to job sites in various markets.
