About The Position

MTI is seeking flexible field and network technicians to implement, maintain, upgrade, and repair networks and networked devices, including access points, routers, switches, POS systems, printers, and modems. Technicians set up and troubleshoot wired and wireless connections in varied environments and help provide adequate signal strength for client use. Travel to projects in various markets is required and paid. Training is provided. The posting also invites freelancers and small-business owners with weekday availability to apply, with the possibility of working around their other commitments.

Requirements

Be over the age of 18.
Have previous IT or related technical technician experience.
Have a current driver’s license, insurance, and a vehicle.
Have a smartphone and flexible availability.
Demonstrate technical aptitude, including cabling and network provisioning experience.
Have strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills and knowledge of networking technologies.
Have effective communication and teamwork skills and aptitude for customer support.
Be able to lift 60 pounds on occasion, climb ladders, and regularly stand, walk, bend, and reach overhead.
Be able to use a computer and telephone system.
Travel is required.

Nice To Haves

Certifications; they are a plus but not required.
POS experience.
Freelancer or small-business-owner background and weekday availability.

Responsibilities

Implement, maintain, upgrade, and repair networks and networked devices.
Set up and troubleshoot wired and wireless network connections in varied environments.
Perform cabling runs, management, testing, and termination, and network provisioning.
Test Wi-Fi networks and signals, including heat mapping.
Install and troubleshoot access points, routers, and switches.
Travel to project locations in various markets.
Use hand tools and communicate with customers and colleagues by phone, text, and email.
