Retail Field, POS & Network Technicians
About The Position
MTI is seeking flexible field, POS, and network technicians for its Service Tech US department. The role involves implementing, maintaining, upgrading, and repairing networks and networked devices, including access points, routers, switches, POS systems, printers, and modems. Technicians set up and troubleshoot wired and wireless connections in varied environments and help provide adequate signal strength throughout client locations. Consistent POS work is expected to begin in April 2026. Training is provided. The position requires travel in various markets and may suit freelancers or small business owners with weekday availability; work may be arranged around other commitments.
Requirements
- Previous IT, POS, field, or related technical technician experience.
- Current driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to a vehicle.
- Technical aptitude and experience with cabling runs, cable management, testing, termination, and network provisioning.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of various networking technologies.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, and aptitude for customer support.
- Flexible availability.
- A smartphone/mobile device.
- Ability to use hand tools frequently.
- Ability to lift 60 pounds or more on occasion, climb ladders, and regularly stand, walk, bend, and reach overhead.
- Must be over 18 years of age.
Nice To Haves
- Certifications; they are a plus but not required.
- POS experience.
Responsibilities
- Implement, maintain, upgrade, and repair networks and networked devices such as access points, routers, switches, POS systems, printers, and modems.
- Set up and troubleshoot wired and wireless connections in different environments.
- Perform cabling runs, cable management, testing, and termination, and network provisioning.
- Test networks and Wi-Fi signals, including heat mapping.
- Install and troubleshoot access points, routers, and switches.
- Communicate with customers and coworkers by phone, text, and email.
- Travel to locations in various markets and perform field work.
