About The Position

Technicians perform a range of installations, repairs, break-fix work, and upgrades for retail security products, including POS systems, networks, networked devices, access points, routers, switches, and RFID smart-lock access. They also establish and troubleshoot wired and wireless connections in varied environments, ensuring adequate signal strength for clients. Travel to various markets is required and paid. Training is provided. The role involves working in a range of environments, including facility ceiling spaces and crawl spaces, with average-to-high noise and lighting levels.

Requirements

• Be over the age of 18.
• Have previous IT or related technical technician experience.
• Have a current driver’s license, insurance, and a vehicle.
• Have a smartphone or other mobile device.
• Demonstrate technical aptitude, including experience with cabling runs, management, testing, termination, and network provisioning.
• Have strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills and knowledge of networking technologies.
• Have effective communication and teamwork skills and aptitude for customer support.
• Be flexibly available.
• Be able to lift 60 pounds or more, climb ladders, and regularly stand, walk, bend, and reach overhead.
• Be able to use a computer and telephone system.

Nice To Haves

• Certifications; they are a plus but not required.
• POS experience.
• Flexible freelancer or small-business-owner status and free weekday availability.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, troubleshoot, and upgrade retail security products and POS systems.
• Install and troubleshoot networks, networked devices, access points, routers, and switches.
• Run, manage, test, and terminate cabling; provision networks.
• Set up and troubleshoot wired and wireless connections and ensure adequate signal strength.
• Test networks and Wi-Fi signals, including heat mapping.
• Travel to various markets for work.
• Use hand tools and communicate with customers and colleagues by phone, text, and email.
