Retail Field, Low Voltage & Network Technicians
About The Position
MTI is seeking technicians for flexible projects involving retail field, low-voltage, POS, and network work. Technicians install, repair, troubleshoot, and upgrade retail security products, POS systems, networks, and networked devices, including access points, routers, switches, and RFID smart-lock access. The work also includes setting up and troubleshooting wired and wireless connections to ensure adequate signal strength for clients. The position requires travel to various markets and flexible availability. Technicians use hand tools and may work in facility ceiling spaces and crawl spaces. All training is provided. Requirements
- Current driver's license, insurance, and a vehicle.
- Previous IT or related technical technician experience.
- Technical aptitude and experience with cabling runs, management, testing, termination, and network provisioning.
- Excellent communication skills by phone, text, and email.
- Smartphone or mobile device.
- Flexible availability.
- Ability to use hand tools frequently.
- Ability to lift 60 pounds or more on occasion.
- Ability to climb up and down ladders.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of various networking technologies.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Aptitude for customer support.
- Must be over the age of 18.
Nice To Haves
- Certifications; they are a plus but not required.
- POS experience.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, troubleshoot, and upgrade retail security products, POS systems, networks, and networked devices.
- Run, manage, test, and terminate cabling, and provision networks.
- Set up and troubleshoot wired and wireless device connections and ensure adequate signal strength.
- Test Wi-Fi networks and signals, including heat mapping.
- Install and troubleshoot access points, routers, and switches.
- Travel to various markets to perform project work.
- Communicate with clients and colleagues by phone, text, and email.
