About The Position

Meijer is hiring a Retail Evening Cashier to provide friendly, accurate checkout service and help customers finish their shopping trips on a positive note. The cashier greets customers, processes purchases using Meijer systems, handles payments responsibly, answers questions, and helps resolve concerns. The role also supports self-checkout and other Front End areas, maintains clean and stocked checkout areas, and assists with evening and closing responsibilities. Evening availability through store closing is required, with weekend availability as scheduled. Previous cashier experience is not required.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Availability to work evenings through store closing.

Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, twisting, and standing for extended periods.

Previous retail, cashier, or customer service experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful service.
Scan and process purchases accurately and efficiently using Meijer systems.
Handle cash, credit, debit, coupons, and other forms of payment responsibly.
Bag merchandise carefully and efficiently.
Become knowledgeable about Meijer programs and promotions to assist customers.
Create welcoming checkout experiences through clear communication, friendly eye contact, and positive body language.
Answer customer questions and help resolve concerns, connecting customers with the right team member when needed.
Assist customers at self-checkout and in other Front End areas as needed.
Keep checkout lanes and surrounding areas clean, organized, and stocked.
Support evening and closing responsibilities throughout the Front End.
Work with the Service team to provide a fast, friendly checkout experience.
Follow company procedures for cash handling, customer service, safety, and security.
Support other tasks as needed to keep operations running smoothly.
