About The Position

The Retail Customer Host Associate provides a welcoming first impression for customers entering and leaving the store. The associate greets and assists customers, shares store information, answers questions, offers carts or baskets, directs customers, and helps manage the entrance and customer flow. The role also includes checking receipts as customers exit to verify purchases, referring merchandise that cannot be validated to the point of sale, asking customers with missing or invalid receipts to return to the store for processing, and filing appropriate reports with the Risk department. Associates use handheld scanners and other technology to monitor transactions or report incidents, observe for suspicious behavior, and help maintain a safe, welcoming environment. The position is based at the Havana Store. Pay is $16.51 per hour, and full-time positions are available. The posting states that it will remain open through 10/22/2026.

Requirements

• Excellent customer service skills and a positive, approachable attitude.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
• Ability to read, comprehend, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Attention to detail and ability to make decisions.
• Ability to use basic technologies and operate computer programs such as Microsoft and Think Risk, as well as phones and scanners.
• Ability to take initiative and convey information effectively to diverse individuals.
• Ability to handle customer inquiries and concerns calmly and professionally and build rapport.
• Ability to work a varied schedule that may include weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to meet the physical demands described, including continuous walking, standing, speaking, hearing, visual tasks, and hand/finger use, and occasional lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, twisting, bending, kneeling/crawling, squatting, and stair climbing.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior retail store door attendant experience is a plus.
• Bilingual ability is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers entering the store with a warm, genuine welcome and provide a positive first impression.
• Share store information, answer customer questions, offer carts or hand baskets, direct customers to store areas, and help manage customer flow.
• Inform customers about item locations, discounts, and upcoming events.
• Thank customers as they leave and check receipts against purchases.
• Refer merchandise that cannot be validated by the receipt to the point of sale for additional customer service.
• Politely ask customers without a receipt or with an invalid receipt to return to the store to be processed through the point of sale.
• File appropriate reports with the Risk department.
• Use handheld scanners and other devices to monitor transactions or report incidents through Think Risk.
• Observe customers and identify suspicious behavior while maintaining a calm demeanor.
• Follow retail center policies, procedures, and safety processes.
• Perform additional duties as required.
