About The Position

The Retail Associate supports daily retail operations at Southern Oregon Goodwill, helping turn donations into sales that fund job training and employment programs. The role contributes to the organization’s mission of enabling employment through personal and professional growth while committing to sustainable practices. Work is performed primarily indoors in a climate-controlled space, with occasional work outdoors in varying weather conditions. This position has a medium physical demand level.

Requirements

Speak and understand English sufficiently to read materials and communicate with customers and coworkers.
Be able to maintain the physical requirements of the working environment.
Perform simple mathematical calculations.
Meet the physical requirements of the role, including prolonged sitting and standing; frequent walking and standing for up to 8 hours per day; regularly lifting, carrying, or moving up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds; pushing, pulling, and carrying up to 30 pounds; frequent kneeling, stooping, and bending; and occasionally moving wheeled carts or material-handling equipment with loads up to 250 pounds.
Have close vision.

Nice To Haves

Experience that would lend itself to good customer service is highly desirable.
Previous experience in a retail or comparable environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate an electronic cash register and handle cash, charge, and check/voucher transactions.
Prepare cash drawers and related paperwork as assigned.
Receive, prepare, sort, price, and rotate stock for the retail floor, and conduct quality control.
Operate department equipment and machinery; prepare goods for sale, processing, or storage.
Perform inventories, tallies, or other tracking required in the retail environment.
Assist GoodWorks staff with implementing work plans and guidelines for client programs, as assigned by the store manager.
