About The Position

The Retail Associate works in the Waimea Valley Gift Shop, helping guests efficiently and providing memorable service through SSA EXTRA Guest Service. The role includes stocking and merchandising products, maintaining a clean and safe work area, supporting sales, and communicating customer feedback and inventory needs to retail leadership. Associates also support the unit’s sustainability, conservation, inclusion, and community-engagement efforts. This is a part-time position; no previous experience is required, and applicants from all education backgrounds are eligible.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a team environment while working independently and adapting to a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to understand and implement written and verbal instructions.
• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with POS systems and Excel.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and move and handle boxes weighing 10–35 pounds, including lifting, and perform the role’s other functions.
• Ability to work varied hours and days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
• Previous experience is not required.
• All education backgrounds are eligible.

Responsibilities

• Fulfill guests’ needs quickly and efficiently.
• Notify retail leadership when item quantities are low or when there are special requests; coordinate with the warehouse team to pull and fill items as needed.
• Relay relevant customer comments to a supervisor.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment and uphold company policies and procedures.
• Perform SSA EXTRA Guest Service steps to create a memorable experience for guests and clients.
• Check and neatly, accurately, and promptly stock supplies in counters, floor displays, stands, and cabinets.
• Clean tables, chairs, and equipment as needed, and keep counter and floor work or service areas free of debris.
• Maintain a balanced cash drawer when assigned.
• Merchandise products to maximize sales and increase sales through promotions and suggestive selling.
• Support the unit’s sustainability and conservation guidelines, apply knowledge of those efforts, and help teach unit staff as appropriate.
• Support community efforts through hiring, engagement activities, and opportunities to give back.
• Promote an inclusive and supportive approach within the brand team and across units; help remove barriers and empower team members’ growth and opportunities.
• Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned.
