About The Position

Retail Associates serve as brand ambassadors and help create exceptional in-store experiences through positive customer interactions. They use problem-solving and sales abilities to answer customer questions, make product recommendations, and support customer service and teamwork. Associates also help ensure product availability, maintain visual displays, and support efficient checkout while contributing to Columbia Sportswear Company’s mission of connecting active people with their passions.

This is a seasonal retail position. The role requires flexibility to work a retail schedule that may change seasonally and in response to location-specific business trends or forecasts. The position involves frequent movement in an active environment, handling merchandise, and communicating clearly with others.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Experience of 2 years or less in a position or specialization.
• Skill operating inventory and point-of-sale (POS) systems and other retail software tools.
• Ability to communicate clearly with others.
• Availability to work a flexible retail schedule that may change seasonally or in response to business trends and forecasts.
• Ability to frequently move about and adjust or move items weighing up to 40 lbs.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer questions or issues about product features, benefits, and availability.
• Engage with customers to understand their needs and preferences, demonstrate and explain merchandise, and suggest suitable options.
• Maintain store standards for visual merchandising, cleanliness, and safety.
• Retrieve merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations.
• Perform cash register transactions, including sales, returns, exchanges, and loyalty-program connections, efficiently and accurately.
• Receive, handle, replenish, and process incoming and outgoing product flow accurately and efficiently.
