About The Position

The Restaurant Server works at the Courtyard Bistro at the Courtyard by Marriott Houston Rice University, providing guest service in a fast-paced, team-oriented hotel dining environment. The role involves serving guests and may also include preparing meals to order, following recipes, and maintaining food quality, presentation, and safety. The server interacts with travelers, helps create memorable dining experiences, and supports the hotel’s service standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong guest-service focus and ability to engage effectively with guests.
Ability to manage time effectively and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to collaborate seamlessly with team members.
Flexibility to work weekends and holidays.

Prior food-service experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly, excellent service and handle guest concerns or complaints professionally and efficiently.
Accurately take and deliver orders, ensuring the correct items are served at the appropriate time.
Maintain clean, organized dining spaces in accordance with brand standards.
Manage multiple tables and tasks effectively during busy dining periods.
Upsell menu items, beverages, and promotions.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, kitchen staff, and management to deliver seamless service.
Follow uniform and grooming standards and represent the hotel brand professionally.
Handle payment transactions, process bills, and use point-of-sale systems.
Prepare meals to order according to recipes and maintain consistent quality and presentation.
Follow food handling, storage, preparation, safety, and sanitation standards.
Maintain consistent portion sizes, plate presentation, and flavor profiles.
