About The Position

The Hotel Food Server is an essential part of the restaurant and is responsible for seating and greeting guests, taking orders, and helping ensure guests have a unique culinary experience. The Server makes recommendations when asked and communicates food allergies and special nutritional requests to kitchen staff. The position may also assist with basic food production and other food service activities, and may clean service lines and kitchen equipment. Other duties pertinent to the department or unit’s success may be assigned.

Requirements

Some prior customer service experience or training.
Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Responsibilities

Present menus, answer questions, and make suggestions regarding food and service.
Write orders on checks or memorize them.
Relay orders to the kitchen and serve courses from the kitchen and service bars.
Observe diners to respond to additional requests and determine when meals are complete.
Total bills and accept payments, or refer patrons to the cashier.
Brew coffee and prepare and serve beverages.
Clear and reset counters or tables at the conclusion of each course.
Assist others with basic food production or other food service activities as needed.
Break down and clean service lines and other kitchen equipment as needed.
Communicate food allergies and special nutritional requests to kitchen staff.
Perform other duties pertinent to the department or unit’s success.
