Restaurant Server- PART TIME
About The Position
The Restaurant Server provides friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience and encourage guests to return. The server is responsible for guests and reports to the restaurant manager. The role requires communicating in the predominant language(s) of guests, basic knowledge of dining-room and service procedures, basic math skills, and the ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system. Servers must be able to stand for extended periods, up to five hours, and safely lift and maneuver trays frequently weighing 20 to 25 pounds. The position is part-time at Recovery Sports Grill Charleston in Charleston, West Virginia. The posted pay is $2.62 per hour. Most positions require weekend and holiday availability.
Requirements
- Ability to communicate in and understand the predominant language(s) of guests.
- Basic knowledge of dining-room and service procedures and functions.
- Basic math skills and ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system.
- Ability to stand for long periods, up to five hours.
- Ability to safely lift and easily maneuver trays frequently weighing 20 to 25 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and greet guests, make them comfortable, and let them know you will personally take care of them.
- Inform guests about specials and menu changes, make recommendations, and answer questions about food, beverages, and restaurant functions and services.
- Take food and beverage orders and enter them into the point-of-sale system for the kitchen and bar.
- Deliver food and beverages to guests in a timely manner.
- Perform assigned side work at the start and end of each shift.
- Maintain clean service areas.
- Monitor guests’ dining experiences, ensure they are satisfied with the food and service, and respond promptly and courteously to requests.
- Prepare and present the final bill, accept payment, process credit card charges, or make change as applicable.
- Assist fellow servers and help the busperson clear and reset tables as needed.
- Thank guests for visiting and invite them to return.
- Fill in as needed to support smooth and efficient restaurant operations, as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
