Restaurant Server (Part-Time)
About The Position
The Restaurant Server is an essential member of the Four Seasons Hotel Minneapolis Food & Beverage team, serving guests and residents at the seasonal Riva/Nordic Village restaurant. The outlet operates as Riva Terrace Restaurant & Bar in spring and summer and Nordic Village in late fall and winter. The server creates memorable dining experiences through exceptional, anticipatory service and a knowledgeable understanding of menu items and preparation methods. This is a part-time role. The stated wage is $16.37 per hour plus tips. Candidates must have valid U.S. work authorization.
Requirements
- At least 2–3 years of Food & Beverage experience and previous experience as a server.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, large-team environment.
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours a day and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Flexibility to work weekday, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- Ability to carry and balance a tray.
- Ability to accurately process cash and credit card transactions.
- Ability to multitask in a high-volume, demanding environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle difficult situations and guests.
- Reading, writing, and oral proficiency in English.
- TIPS and ServSafe certification.
- Valid U.S. work authorization.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of Minneapolis and surrounding areas is highly desirable but not required.
- Preferred experience in a luxury hotel or resort.
Responsibilities
- Take guest orders and describe food and beverage menu selections, including their origins, tastes, and preparation methods.
- Communicate orders and special requests to the kitchen and bar through the hotel's point-of-sale system, and coordinate food and beverage timing.
- Check completed kitchen orders against guests’ original orders and deliver items promptly while ensuring food quality.
- Anticipate guest needs, assess satisfaction, make suggestions, and respond appropriately and urgently to concerns and requests.
- Adapt service to different guests, including local guests, international travelers, and building residents, to create a customized experience.
- Accurately close guest checks; process cash and credit card payments; and settle voided checks or complimentary meals properly.
- Break down, clean, and set up tables and chairs.
- Work harmoniously and professionally with coworkers and supervisors.
- Assist with Food & Beverage responsibilities and duties when needed, including during heavy volume or in others’ absence.
