Hillstone’s summer internship is designed for rising seniors with a serious interest in pursuing a career in restaurant management or culinary management. Interns are exposed to the business in its entirety, with a particular focus on daily operations and service. Most of the internship is spent apprenticing in staff-level roles, with opportunities to learn about management functions such as hiring, training, coaching, inventory management, and P&L oversight. Previous restaurant experience is helpful but is not required. Intern placements are determined by fit and assigned to an operating team at one of Hillstone’s restaurants around the country. There is a strong focus on East Hampton, NY, and Aspen, CO, but placement may be elsewhere among the company’s U.S. properties. Relocation may be required depending on placement. Compensation varies by location and typically averages $1,200–$1,800 per week; the posting also lists compensation of USD 4,800–USD 7,200 monthly. Hillstone Restaurant Group is a privately held collection of upscale restaurants with more than 45 locations in cities across the country. The company confirms each employee’s identity and authorization to work through E-Verify. Applicant information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
