Hillstone’s summer internship is designed for rising seniors with a serious interest in pursuing a career in restaurant management or culinary management. Interns are exposed to the business in its entirety, with a particular focus on daily operations and service. Most of the internship is spent apprenticing in staff-level roles, with opportunities to learn about management functions such as hiring, training, coaching, inventory management, and P&L oversight. Previous restaurant experience is helpful but is not a prerequisite. Intern placement is determined by fit and assignment to an operating team at one of Hillstone Restaurant Group’s restaurants around the country, with a strong focus on East Hampton, NY, and Aspen, CO. Placement may be elsewhere in the United States, and relocation is contingent upon employment. Compensation varies by location and typically averages $1,200–$1,800 per week. Hillstone Restaurant Group is a privately held collection of upscale restaurants with more than 45 locations in vibrant cities across the country. The company confirms each employee’s identity and authorization to work by participating in E-Verify. Information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
