Hillstone’s summer internship is designed for rising seniors with a serious interest in pursuing a career in restaurant management or culinary management. Interns are exposed to the business in its entirety, with a particular focus on daily operations and service. Most of the internship is spent apprenticing in staff-level roles, with opportunities to learn about management functions such as hiring, training, coaching, inventory management, and P&L oversight. Previous restaurant experience is helpful but not required. Placements are determined by fit and assigned to an operating team at a restaurant around the country, with a strong focus on East Hampton, NY, and Aspen, CO. Placement is decided upon hire and may be at a location other than Aspen; relocation is contingent upon employment. Compensation varies by location and typically averages $1,200–$1,800 per week.
