Hillstone’s summer internship is designed for rising seniors seriously interested in pursuing a career in restaurant management or culinary management. Interns are exposed to the restaurant business as a whole, with a particular focus on daily operations and service. Most of the internship is spent apprenticing in staff-level roles, with opportunities to learn management functions such as hiring, training, coaching, inventory management, and P&L oversight. Previous restaurant experience is helpful but is not a prerequisite. Interns are assigned to an operating team at one of the company’s restaurants around the country based on fit. The placement has a strong focus on East Hampton, NY, and Aspen, CO, but may be at another location. Relocation may be required depending on the placement. Compensation varies by location and is typically an average of $1,200–$1,800 per week; the posting also lists monthly compensation of USD 4,800–USD 7,200.
