About The Position

The Host/Hostess is responsible for creating a welcoming first impression and ensuring smooth front-of-house operations. This includes greeting and seating guests, managing flow through the dining area, and supporting the team to deliver high-quality service in accordance with company, health, and safety standards.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of local liquor and health codes
• Must have current Food Handler and Allergy training certificate, or must attend Food Handler and Aller-train certification courses for Alterra Mountain company within 14 days of employment
• High School Diploma or GED required

Nice To Haves

• Valid US Driver’s License ad clean motor vehicle record desirable
• Basic knowledge of restaurant operations
• TIPS certification preferable, may be obtained after employment
• One-year FOH experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Greet and seat guests promptly and courteously.
• Manage seating charts and balance table sections for servers.
• Answer phones and guest inquiries professionally.
• Ensure the host stand and front area are clean, organized, and stocked.
• Prepare restaurant for opening (lights, music, cleanliness, menus, supplies).
• Assist in general cleaning, restroom checks, and stocking as needed.
• Monitor guest satisfaction; resolve minor concerns and inform management of larger issues.
• Maintain a friendly, helpful, and positive attitude at all times.
• Support teammates with communication and cooperation.
• Attend staff meetings and stay updated on daily operations and events.
