Groomer - Winter Season
About The Position
The Groomer operates Winter Park heavy construction equipment and/or snow-grooming equipment with attachments. The role grooms trails efficiently to provide an enjoyable surface for guests, requires knowledge of machinery capabilities, and includes understanding terrain park maintenance. The Groomer follows Winter Park policies and procedures, applicable federal, state, and local laws, and health and sanitation codes. The position includes pre-operation vehicle checks and fueling, carrying out work assigned by the Grooming Supervisor, maintaining equipment logs, securing work sites, identifying hazards and equipment repairs, and keeping assigned work and shop areas clean. The role requires a sustainable health standard while working amid changing altitudes and workloads. Duties may change as the resort and position evolve.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Understand the mechanics of snow movement and the nomenclature of equipment.
- Hold a valid, non-restricted motor vehicle license.
- Be able to work irregular hours and maintain caution and common sense while performing duties.
- Have reliable transportation to work.
- Maintain a sustainable health standard in fast-changing altitudes and workloads.
Nice To Haves
- Grooming experience.
- Skiing or snowboarding ability.
- First aid knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Complete pre-operation checkout and fuel the vehicle.
- Receive shift instructions from the Grooming Supervisor.
- Perform basic grooming functions as directed by the Grooming Supervisor.
- Complete required work safely and efficiently.
- Secure the work site nightly, including marking holes and removing equipment keys.
- Groom or repair encountered hazards.
- Inform the Supervisor of scheduled jobs that were not completed.
- Inform mechanics of necessary repairs or service.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date logs on equipment used.
- Maintain a friendly, congenial, and helpful attitude when dealing with guests, mechanics, and other employees.
- Report and, if possible, correct unsafe conditions involving equipment or work areas.
- Maintain assigned work, shop, and equipment areas.
- Perform other duties as directed.
