About The Position

The Groomer operates heavy construction and/or snow grooming equipment with attachments to groom trails, ensuring an enjoyable surface for guests. This role requires an understanding of machinery capabilities and terrain park maintenance, while adhering to all Winter Park policies, laws, and health codes. The position involves working in a mountain environment with exposure to various weather conditions and requires the ability to maintain a sustainable health standard at high altitudes and during demanding workloads.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Understanding the mechanics of snow movement and nomenclature of equipment
  • Possess a valid, non-restricted motor vehicle license.
  • Able to work irregular hours.
  • Able to maintain a high level of caution and common sense while performing duties.
  • Have reliable transportation to work.
  • Lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day is common.
  • Walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy construction and/or snow grooming equipment with attachments.
  • Groom trails to provide an enjoyable surface for guests.
  • Perform terrain park maintenance.
  • Follow all Winter Park policies and procedures, applicable laws, and health and sanitation codes.
  • Perform pre-operation checkout and fueling of vehicles.
  • Receive shift instructions from the Grooming Supervisor.
  • Perform basic grooming functions as directed by the Grooming Supervisor.
  • Perform required work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Secure work site nightly.
  • Groom/repair hazards encountered.
  • Inform Supervisor of scheduled jobs not completed.
  • Inform mechanics of necessary repairs and/or service needed.
  • Maintain accurate up-to-date logs on equipment used.
  • Maintain a friendly, congenial, and helpful attitude while dealing with guests, mechanics, and other employees.
  • Report and correct, if possible, unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain housekeeping of assigned work/shop/equipment area.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
  • Maintain a sustainable health standard in fast changing altitudes and workloads.
