About The Position

At Mother’s Market, the Restaurant Cook prepares high-quality meals, mentors kitchen team members, and helps maintain an efficient, clean, and collaborative cooking environment. The role contributes to a positive kitchen culture and guest satisfaction by preparing daily meals and specials, supporting kitchen operations, and helping ensure consistent food quality and service. The position requires working in a fast-paced food-service environment, following food-safety practices, coordinating with kitchen shifts, and assisting wherever needed to support service.

Requirements

Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or food-service environment.
Knowledge of food-safety codes, kitchen equipment use, and food-handling best practices.
Ability to read and follow recipes in English.
Ability to perform basic math for measurements and inventory.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Willingness to train, support, and lead team members.
Comfort working in a fast-paced, accuracy-driven environment.
Positive attitude and problem-solving mindset.
Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per shift; repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; bend, stoop, kneel, and reach overhead; and work in hot, cold, wet, or dry conditions indoors and outdoors.
Flexible availability across various shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

Prepare daily meals and specials and manage hot and cold food lines with speed and consistency.
Support the training and supervision of prep cooks and dishwashers.
Follow recipes, maintain correct portion sizes, and meet food-presentation standards.
Follow food-safety regulations and inspect the kitchen for cleanliness and organization.
Coordinate with other shifts regarding orders, inventory, and special requests.
Track and restock preparation ingredients, rotate food, and minimize waste.
Assist where needed, including covering the line, managing closing checklists, and resolving service issues.
