About The Position

The Restaurant Cook assists the main restaurant Associates in maintaining high-quality food items while considering inventory cost and profitability. The role controls daily and weekly inventory and supports the food and beverage service expected by guests. The Cook helps produce food for daily menus and special events, maintains equipment and a clean, organized work area, and follows health and sanitation standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• A “Win together” mentality.
• Ability to stand, bend, climb stairs, and lift and carry 35 pounds.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by business needs.

Responsibilities

• Produce and coordinate food items for daily menus and special events to support efficient restaurant operations.
• Control daily and weekly inventories and use production, build-to, and order sheets to support inventory cost and profitability.
• Check with a supervisor about special preparation needs before beginning regular kitchen tasks and before leaving.
• Coordinate production of daily menu items using menu counts and production or build-to sheets to help control waste.
• Check inventory for all menus and communicate production supply needs to the head cook.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with health and sanitation standards.
• Maintain equipment daily and report malfunctions to the designated Associate.
• Communicate promptly with Associates to maintain the flow of food orders and verify special orders with the designated Associate.
• Maintain menu-item production throughout the day to meet supply demands while avoiding waste.
• Close and sanitize the work area promptly according to health codes and gather items needed for the next day's production.
• Communicate supply-order needs to a supervisor.
• Uphold health and sanitation standards set by Neiman Marcus, the local Health Department, and third-party sanitation auditors.
