About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital Southeast OH in Newark, Ohio is seeking a per diem/PRN Respiratory Therapist to provide inpatient post-ICU care to chronic, critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The role is scheduled as needed for 12-hour night shifts and pays $45.00 per hour. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is offered.

Respiratory Therapists provide compassionate respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions. The employer offers an extensive orientation program and notes that the role may lead to potential full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) participation after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or subsequent calendar year, and have access to the employee assistance program.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript/diploma (preferred), or high school transcript/diploma or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Have ACLS certification upon hire; agency Respiratory Therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma as proof of graduation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
