About The Position

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory has multiple openings for Resilient Infrastructure Systems Analysts supporting analysis of the resilience of infrastructure systems to cyber, physical, and supply chain threats. The role applies technical expertise, critical thinking, modeling and simulation, and analysis to complex, multi-domain problems to provide decision insight and communicate options and trade-offs in support of customer missions. Analysts integrate with research and development teams and work directly with operational organizations. The positions are in the Computational Engineering Division within the Engineering Directorate. Telework may be authorized at LLNL's discretion based on policy, security, program, and performance requirements; it is not guaranteed and may change, including through onsite work requirements. The role conducts foundational and applied research on challenges at the intersection of super intelligence (SI), previously referred to as artificial intelligence (AI), and national security. Analysts evaluate and apply SI/ML methods where they add value, contributing to models, tools, and frameworks that help assess vulnerabilities and defenses of complex infrastructure systems. They help develop analytical questions and plans for stakeholders, create methods drawing on relevant disciplines, contribute to technical projects and deliverables, communicate project status and delivery dates, interact with sponsor and partner technical contacts, and support programmatic deliverables with occasional travel. At the SES.3 level, responsibilities additionally include leading technical tasks while balancing customer and partner priorities, independently or collaboratively operationalizing research and development advancements for LLNL national security programs, and serving as the point of contact for sponsor and partner program managers. Positions are filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience assessed by the hiring team.
