About The Position

The IT Infrastructure & Network Systems Analyst maintains, supports, secures, and optimizes the IT infrastructure and network systems needed for safe, reliable, and efficient mining operations. The role administers and supports servers, networks, wireless communications, telecommunications, end-user computing, virtualization, storage, backup systems, and cybersecurity controls. The analyst works with mine operations, processing plant personnel, engineering, maintenance, automation, and external technology providers to help ensure business-critical systems remain available and integral. The position supports the evaluation, design, implementation, integration, and ongoing improvement of on-premises, cloud, hybrid, and operational technology environments. It includes technical analysis and recommendations, project planning and validation, documentation, advanced troubleshooting, and participation in maintenance and critical incident response when necessary. Jerritt Canyon is in a phase of evaluation and planning following the suspension of operations in May 2023, with substantial technical support needed for work related to a potential future restart.

Requirements

  • Diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, Systems Administration, Telecommunications, or a closely related discipline; equivalent relevant technical qualifications and demonstrated practical experience may be considered.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of network architecture, routing and switching, server administration, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure support.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure, network administration, systems administration, or enterprise technical support.
  • Demonstrated experience administering Windows-based infrastructure, network devices, user access, and enterprise IT systems.
  • Practical experience troubleshooting network connectivity, server performance, endpoint issues, and infrastructure outages.
  • Experience with backup and recovery, patch management, system monitoring, and technical documentation.
  • Experience working with incident management, change management, and service request processes.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze business, operational, safety, production, and remote-site requirements to determine suitable computer systems, infrastructure, connectivity, and technology solutions.
  • Evaluate server, network, cloud, storage, backup, identity, and operational technology environments for performance, capacity, reliability, security, and integration needs.
  • Gather requirements from Operations, corporate IT, cybersecurity, and system owners and translate them into functional and technical specifications.
  • Assess infrastructure and connectivity alternatives, including on-premises, cloud, hybrid, wireless, fiber, private-circuit, LTE, microwave, and satellite options.
  • Develop technical recommendations for system architecture, redundancy, segmentation, capacity, resilience, lifecycle planning, and integration of business and operational systems.
  • Analyze system performance, availability, utilization, connectivity, and incident data, recommending corrective and preventive changes.
  • Design and support physical and virtual server environments, including VMware, Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, file services, storage, backup, replication, and disaster recovery.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, fiber-optic, routing, switching, firewall, VPN, and remote-connectivity solutions.
  • Analyze and support integration of on-premises infrastructure with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, remote sites, vendor-managed environments, and operational technology systems.
  • Develop implementation, testing, migration, rollback, and validation plans for modernization, cloud migration, network expansion, and systems integration projects.
  • Test proposed configurations and solutions against technical and operational requirements and recommend modifications before production deployment.
  • Coordinate implementation activities with vendors, consultants, contractors, corporate IT, cybersecurity personnel, and system owners.
  • Monitor and analyze system health, capacity, performance, utilization, availability, and connectivity to identify risks and recommend improvements.
  • Analyze backup, replication, and disaster-recovery capabilities and recommend improvements to recovery readiness and business continuity.
  • Assess vulnerabilities, access controls, identity management, privileged access, endpoint protection, firewall configuration, and secure remote access with cybersecurity personnel.
  • Evaluate separation and controlled connectivity between IT and OT environments and recommend changes to reduce safety, production, and business-continuity risks.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis of recurring or high-impact infrastructure and connectivity problems and recommend permanent corrective action.
  • Maintain architecture diagrams, requirements documentation, configuration standards, inventories, integration records, change documentation, test results, recovery procedures, and implementation plans.
  • Participate in upgrades, patching, hardware refreshes, lifecycle replacements, capacity improvements, and configuration standardization.
  • Provide advanced technical support for complex infrastructure and systems-integration issues, including server, network, wireless, cloud, connectivity, performance, and interoperability problems.
  • Validate completed implementations, document system performance, and recommend further modifications when systems do not meet requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to support personnel and participate in scheduled maintenance or critical incident response when necessary to evaluate and restore affected computer systems.
