Residential Sales Representative

Distro•Baltimore, MD
•$60,000 - $150,000•Onsite

About The Position

Abbey Fence & Deck Company is hiring Residential Sales Representatives to conduct scheduled in-home and on-site estimate appointments for homeowners considering fencing or decking projects. This is a field-based, consultative sales role using company-provided leads rather than cold calling or door-to-door prospecting. The representative assesses customer needs and property conditions, takes measurements, explains product options, prepares and presents estimates, and works to close profitable projects. The representative owns the customer relationship from the initial appointment through the start of installation, including follow-up, documentation, and coordination with production and warehouse teams. New representatives receive paid training at $1,000 per week during an anticipated training-pay period of approximately two months; the exact duration is not finalized. After training, compensation transitions to 100% commission, generally 10% of the pre-tax project total when required pricing and profitability standards are met. Additional performance incentives may be available. Estimated annual earnings are $60,000–$150,000+, depending on performance and appointment volume. The company aims to provide about 15 appointments per week when fully ramped, but appointment volume is not guaranteed and may vary by season. The position is Monday through Friday, typically 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., depending on appointments and customer needs; weekend coverage is not currently required. It is an in-person, field-based role involving significant driving across Baltimore City and surrounding central and northern Maryland counties. A company gas card is provided for approved business travel. Employees become eligible for company benefit programs after a 90-day probationary period. Previous fencing or decking sales experience is not required; the company emphasizes communication, work ethic, coachability, attention to detail, comfort with numbers, and motivation to succeed in a commission-based environment.

  • Coachable attitude and willingness to follow the company’s established sales, pricing, and documentation processes.
  • Competitive, ambitious, and motivated by commission-based earning potential; comfortable with a performance-driven environment and transitioning to 100% commission after training.
