Residential Sales Representative

Distro•Baltimore, MD
•Onsite

About The Position

Abbey Fence & Deck Company is seeking motivated, coachable, customer-focused Residential Sales Representatives to conduct in-home and on-site estimate appointments and help homeowners select fencing and decking solutions. The company provides scheduled leads and estimate opportunities; this is not a traditional cold-calling or door-to-door prospecting role. Representatives assess properties and customer needs, educate homeowners, prepare accurate estimates, present recommended solutions, and close profitable business. They own the customer relationship from the initial appointment through the start of installation, including measurements, documentation, follow-up, technical explanations, material specifications, and coordination with production and warehouse teams. Previous fence or deck sales experience is not required. The role is in-person and field-based, covering Baltimore City and surrounding areas across central and northern Maryland. Representatives travel to customer properties, conduct consultations, measure project areas, prepare estimates, follow up with prospective customers, visit projects when needed, and coordinate with internal teams. Significant regional driving is required. The schedule is Monday through Friday, typically 9:00 AM–5:00 PM or 9:00 AM–6:00 PM depending on appointments and customer needs; no weekend coverage is currently required. New representatives receive $1,000 per week during the approved training-pay period, anticipated to last approximately two months, though its exact duration is to be confirmed. Training covers company processes, products, pricing, estimating, documentation, and ride-alongs. Customer-facing responsibilities increase as the representative demonstrates readiness. After training, compensation transitions to a 100% commission-based model. Commission is generally 10% of the pre-tax project total and depends on compliance with pricing and profitability standards. Additional performance bonuses or incentives may be available. Estimated annual earnings are approximately $60,000–$150,000+, depending on performance and opportunity volume. Benefits are available after a 90-day probationary period and include health insurance and a 401(k). A company gas card supports approved business travel.

  • Coachable attitude and willingness to follow a proven sales process and company standards.
  • Competitive, ambitious, and motivated by commission-based earning potential; comfortable transitioning to a 100% commission model after training.
