About The Position

BAMSI is hiring a Residential Counselor to provide rehabilitative support to adults in Group Living Environments (GLE). The role helps residents build daily living skills, independence, and community connections while supporting their dignity and well-being. Counselors implement treatment plans and behavioral interventions under clinician guidance, administer or supervise medications according to MAP guidelines, and document care. The position also includes transporting residents to appointments and community activities, advocating for their needs, modeling healthy coping strategies, and maintaining a safe, clean home environment. The schedule is 20 hours per week, Friday and Saturday, 11 p.m.–9 a.m. The pay range is $20–$21.25 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to assist with mobility, including bending and standing.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Compassion, patience, and commitment to trauma-informed care.

Nice To Haves

• Mental health experience preferred.
• Lived experience or multilingual abilities, such as Spanish or Portuguese.

Responsibilities

• Teach activities of daily living, including cooking, budgeting, and medication management, as well as socialization skills.
• Implement treatment plans and behavioral interventions under clinician guidance.
• Administer or supervise medications in accordance with MAP guidelines and document care.
• Transport residents to appointments and community activities.
• Advocate for residents’ needs and model healthy coping strategies.
• Maintain a safe, clean home environment and complete timely documentation.
