About The Position

BAMSI is seeking a Residential Counselor to provide rehabilitative support to adults in Group Living Environments (GLE). The role supports residents in developing daily living skills and integrating into the community. The counselor teaches activities of daily living and socialization skills, implements treatment plans and behavioral interventions under clinician guidance, administers or supervises medications according to MAP guidelines, and documents care. The position also involves transporting residents to appointments and community activities, advocating for residents’ needs, modeling healthy coping strategies, and maintaining a safe, clean home environment with timely documentation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to assist with mobility, including bending and standing.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Compassion, patience, and commitment to trauma-informed care.

Nice To Haves

• Mental health experience preferred.
• Lived experience or multilingual abilities, such as Spanish or Portuguese.

Responsibilities

• Teach activities of daily living, including cooking, budgeting, and medication management, as well as socialization skills.
• Implement treatment plans and behavioral interventions under clinician guidance.
• Administer or supervise medications according to MAP guidelines and document care.
• Transport residents to appointments and community activities.
• Advocate for residents’ needs and model healthy coping strategies.
• Maintain a safe, clean home environment and complete timely documentation.
