Residential Counselor MAP
About The Position
The Residential Counselor provides rehabilitative support to adults in Group Living Environments (GLE), fostering daily living skills and community integration. The role involves teaching activities of daily living and socialization skills, implementing treatment plans and behavioral interventions under clinician guidance, and administering or supervising medications in accordance with MAP guidelines. The counselor also transports residents to appointments and community activities, advocates for their needs, models healthy coping strategies, maintains a safe and clean home environment, and completes timely documentation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to assist with mobility, including bending and standing.
- Strong English communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Compassion, patience, and commitment to trauma-informed care.
Nice To Haves
- Mental health experience.
- Lived experience or multilingual abilities, such as Spanish or Portuguese.
Responsibilities
- Teach activities of daily living, including cooking, budgeting, and medication management, as well as socialization skills.
- Implement treatment plans and behavioral interventions under clinician guidance.
- Administer or supervise medications according to MAP guidelines and document care.
- Transport residents to appointments and community activities.
- Advocate for residents’ needs and model healthy coping strategies.
- Maintain a safe, clean home environment and complete timely documentation.
