About The Position

The Resident Care Assistant works in the Assisted Living Department at Porter Hills Village in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The role provides compassionate personal care and assistance with daily activities in assisted living and memory care areas, helping create a safe, warm, and nurturing environment for residents.

This is a part-time position scheduled for 21 hours per week, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on varying weekdays, Monday through Friday, and every other weekend. There is no scheduling mandation. A weekend shift premium of $0.50 applies during the stated premium period.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Able to lift and move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a caregiver role.
• Experience with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Previous working knowledge of an Electronic Medication Administration Records (EMAR) system.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
• Help residents with meals and hydration.
• Support mobility, including turning, positioning, and safe transfers.
• Measure and record vital signs, weight, and intake and output.
• Keep resident rooms tidy, comfortable, and stocked with essentials.
• Respond promptly and compassionately to call lights.
• Report changes in residents' conditions to leadership as soon as possible.
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate respect and professionalism while providing care.
