About The Position

The Laundry Department works in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, as well as direction from the Administrator and/or Director of Laundry Services. The role helps maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary facility and ensures an adequate supply of linen is available to meet residents’ needs. The position is located in DeSoto, Missouri, with a scheduled shift of 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Requirements

Friendly attitude and excellent communication skills.
Ability to express oneself adequately in written and oral communication and communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary care setting with residents, families, and staff.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in Environmental Services in a healthcare environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Follow work and cleaning schedules as closely as practical.
Clean walls, ceilings, windows, mirrors, and waxed floors according to department procedures and schedules.
Coordinate daily laundry services with nursing services when completing routine assignments in resident living areas.
Dispose of trash and waste, including biohazardous waste and materials requiring special handling, in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
Post safety-hazard signs when housekeeping activities pose environmental hazards to staff, residents, visitors, or others.
Use personal protective equipment when at risk of exposure to blood or other potentially hazardous body fluids and whenever facility policies require it.
Follow safety instructions and procedures when using chemical substances; consult labels and Material Safety Data Sheets, keep chemicals and cleaning supplies in their original containers, and ask a supervisor for guidance when unsure about proper handling.
