About The Position

The Laundry Department works in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, as well as direction from the Administrator and/or Director of Laundry Services. The role helps keep the facility clean, safe, and sanitary and ensures an adequate supply of linen is available to meet residents’ needs. The shift is 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the position is located in De Soto, Missouri.

Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Friendly attitude and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to express oneself adequately in written and oral communication and communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary care setting with residents, families, and staff.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in a healthcare environment in Environmental Services is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow work and cleaning schedules as closely as practical.
• Clean walls, ceilings, windows, mirrors, and waxed floors according to department procedures and schedules.
• Coordinate daily laundry services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
• Dispose of trash, waste, biohazardous waste, and other materials requiring special handling according to facility policies and procedures.
• Post signs to indicate safety hazards whenever housekeeping activities create environmental hazards for staff, residents, visitors, or others.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) when at risk of exposure to blood or other potentially hazardous body fluids, and whenever required by facility policies and procedures.
• Follow all safety instructions and procedures when using chemical substances.
• Consult product labels and Material Safety Data Sheets for instructions.
• Keep chemicals and cleaning supplies in their original containers.
• Ask a supervisor for assistance when unsure of proper handling techniques.
