Laundry Aide - Evening Shift

About The Position

The Laundry Aide washes, dries, sorts, folds, and hangs patients’ clothing and linens, ensuring clothing is ready to wear and items needing repair are placed appropriately. The role includes using soaps and bleaches safely according to their functions and applicable MSDS precautions, removing stains, and keeping laundry equipment and work areas clean. The aide also supports the organization’s mission through servant leadership, open communication, collaboration, and a welcoming, helpful approach toward associates, patients, families, and visitors. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. The position requires the ability to read safety and operating instructions, write routine reports and correspondence, communicate effectively, perform basic arithmetic, and use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word. No supervisory responsibilities are assigned. The posting lists pay of $14.20 per hour with weekly pay.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common-sense understanding to written, oral, or diagrammed instructions and address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
Ability to meet the stated physical demands, with reasonable accommodations available where applicable.

Responsibilities

Fold and sort clothes.
Hang clothes on racks according to names and numbers.
Ensure patients’ clothes are ready to wear and place items needing repair in the proper location.
Understand the functions of various soaps and bleaches and follow MSDS precautions for chemicals used.
Wash and dry clothes and linens; empty washers and dryers as requested.
Keep equipment clean and follow cleaning schedules.
Sweep and mop the laundry area.
Clean and disinfect linen carts as requested.
Remove stains.
Promote the image and reputation of the System through servant leadership and direct, open communication.
Contribute to committees, workgroups, project management, and other collaborative efforts.
Perform other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System.
Communicate warmly and professionally with associates, patients, family members, and visitors; respond to concerns and answer questions appropriately.
