The Koch Internship Program (KIP) is a paid experiential learning program run by Stand Together Fellowships, offering professional development, leadership training, and work experience at nonprofit organizations. The Research Intern role is with Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW), which provides hands-on exposure to its activities and work with Capitol Hill, the White House, government agencies, and other nonprofit organizations. Interns work with staff on projects, take part in staff meetings and events, and may also work independently. Clerical duties may be required occasionally, but much of the work is substantive. Research interns assist with policy papers and collect data for original investigative studies. They research and write for CAGW publications, including the Congressional Pig Book, Prime Cuts, Government WasteWatch eNews, issue briefs, and policy papers. Interns may initiate projects and can pursue research in areas such as healthcare; science, technology, and telecommunications; federal regulations; and taxation. The program offers full-time and part-time participation. Stand Together Fellowships pays a stipend of $7,500 for full-time participants working approximately 32 hours per week at the partner organization, or $5,500 for part-time participants working approximately 24 hours per week. Attendance at all online and on-site KIP programming is required for both participation schedules. Applicants must be located in and authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the program.
