About The Position

The Koch Internship Program (KIP) is a paid experiential learning program run by Stand Together Fellowships. It offers professional development, leadership training, and meaningful work experience at nonprofit organizations addressing policy challenges across the United States. Early-career professionals, including undergraduate, graduate, and law students and recent graduates, are encouraged to apply. Candidates must be located in and authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the program. Applicants interview with both the nonprofit partner organization and Stand Together Fellowships staff, and are encouraged to begin the admissions process early. Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) offers internships in research, communications, and government affairs. Internships are available year-round and may last from a few weeks to a semester. Interns may work part-time or full-time, with flexible hours. CAGW's work with Capitol Hill, the White House, government agencies, and other nonprofit organizations provides exposure to how Washington works. Because CAGW has a small staff, interns gain hands-on experience in its activities, collaborate with staff on projects, and work independently on others. Interns participate in staff meetings and events and may occasionally perform clerical duties, though much of their work is substantive. The Communications/Media Intern assists CAGW’s communications director with press and public information requests, media outreach, social media content, press releases, press lists, the media database, and communications with radio talk show hosts, reporters, and columnists. Applicants with communications or media experience are encouraged to apply. Stand Together Fellowships pays participants a stipend of $7,500 for full-time participation, approximately 32 hours per week at the partner organization, or $5,500 for part-time participation, approximately 24 hours per week. Participants must attend all online and on-site KIP programming.
