This position is open to Alaska Residents only. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Subsistence, is recruiting for a Research Analyst 1/2 located in Anchorage, Alaska. The Division of Subsistence is looking for a Research Analyst 1 (RA 1) to join their team. This is a permanent, seasonal, position that will support subsistence research projects. The incumbent will be responsible for data entry and quality assurance, assisting with the analysis of quantitative and spatial data using R, Python, and Esri ArcGIS tools, filling internal and external data requests, creating tables and figures for publication in both Excel and R, and obtaining information from various public and internal sources that will be used to compliment or enhance information collected by Subsistence. The mission of the Subsistence Section is to scientifically gather, quantify, evaluate, and report information about customary and traditional uses of Alaska's fish and wildlife resources. This position plays a critical role in that mission by planning and leading data collection for the management of fisheries resources in the Arctic and Northwest regions of Alaska to ensure sustainable subsistence opportunities for area residents. This position is located at either the Anchorage office at 333 Raspberry Rd location of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. The incumbent will regularly interact with other colleagues within the Department and other agencies in order to coordinate research, analysis, and report writing regarding the management of Alaska's subsistence resources. Daily work includes complex data entry tasks, detailed survey review and coding as well as specialized quality assurance steps. This position is also routinely asked to assist with various data organization and analysis tasks. The overall environment spans from data analysis, report writing, addressing data requests for regulatory questions, and developing research proposals and questions/approaches. This seasonal position is currently at 11 months per year. Limited hybrid remote work is possible during certain phases of the year after 1 year of employment.
