About The Position

The Department of Family and Community Services is recruiting for a Grants Administrator 1 / 2. This position is flexibly staffed with the opportunity to advance to next level upon successful completion of a training plan. A Grants Administrator 1 will primarily assist the supervising Grants Administrator III with the financial, administrative and grant management responsibilities for assigned Department of Family & Community Services small grants and simple professional services contracts. A Grants Administrator 2 position will provide expertise and coordination to department program staff for grant program services and professional services contract solicitation and award processes; as well as administer progressively larger and more complex agreements/contracts for services. Procurement authority for professional services & operating grants will reside solely in the centralized Grants and Contracts Section. The mission of the Department of Family and Community Services is to provide support, safety, and personal well-being for vulnerable Alaskans. This role is critical as the procurements that this team will be administering directly support the department's mission. Requirements

  • Accounting: Knowledge of traditional accounting practices including accrual, obligations, and costs methods.
  • Analysis and Assessment: Uses information technology in accessing, collecting, analyzing, maintaining, and disseminating data and information.
  • Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

  • Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or experience in accounting, grants administration, budget administration, procurement, professional services contracts and/or providing administrative support to a business or organization.

  • Grants Management: Knowledge of requirements, practices, and procedures for soliciting, receiving, reviewing, and processing proposals, and awarding and administering grants and agreements.
  • Technical Competence: Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues.

  • Assist the supervising Grants Administrator III with the financial, administrative and grant management responsibilities for assigned Department of Family & Community Services small grants and simple professional services contracts.

  • Administer progressively larger and more complex agreements/contracts for services.
