About The Position

SAIC is hiring full-time Remote Pilot Operators (RPOs) for its traveling Datacom Team, supporting Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) air traffic controller training services. This is not a UAS, UAV, RPV, or drone pilot position. In an air traffic control training simulator, the RPO plays the roles of pilots and other controllers. The RPO operates a simulated radar display and voice communication system to reproduce pilot actions and communications from remote ATC facilities during medium- and high-fidelity training exercises. RPOs receive voice commands from students, enter appropriate information into the automated system, interpret displayed information using ATC terminology, and respond through the voice communication system using proper phraseology. Candidates must complete classroom certification, including a test on airspace and procedures, and lab certification, demonstrating performance as an RPO on all positions. The FAA trains new air traffic control specialists and provides recurrent training to current specialists. Contractor-provided instructional services and related support help prepare students to become fully certified controllers at FAA facilities throughout the United States and its territories.
