PHX Remote Pilot Operator

SAIC•Phoenix, AZ

About The Position

SAIC is seeking part-time Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) candidates to join its Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport Air Traffic Control Tower (PHX) in Phoenix, Arizona. The position supports air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This is not a UAS, UAV, RPV, or drone pilot position. The RPO plays the roles of pilots and other controllers in an air traffic controller training simulator. Using a simulated radar display and voice communication system, the RPO simulates pilot actions and communications from remote ATC facilities during medium- and high-fidelity training exercises. RPOs receive voice commands from students, enter appropriate information into the automated system to simulate pilot actions, translate displayed information into ATC terminology, and respond to students through the voice communication system using proper phraseology. Candidates must complete classroom certification, including passing a test on airspace and procedures, and lab certification, demonstrating performance as an RPO on all positions.
